Elin Rees – Festival Organist

Welsh musician Elin Rees is a freelance accompanist, recitalist, and the organist at Bury Parish Church. After studying at the Purcell School of Music at 16, she attended the Royal Northern College of Music, obtaining a BMus (Hons) followed by an MMus in Solo Piano Performance. While at the RNCM, Elin was Pilling Trust Organ Scholar at St Ann’s Church, Manchester.

From 2014-16 Elin was a Junior Fellow in Accompaniment at the RNCM, where she continues to work as a freelance accompanist, playing for many of the College’s principal study tutors, particularly in the School of Vocal Studies. Here she has the opportunity to continue developing her skills as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach. She is also the accompanist for the Hallé Choral Academy, and teaches piano and organ lessons at St Bede’s College, Manchester, and Bury Grammar School.

Elin regularly performs with choirs in the North West, including Congleton and Bury Choral Societies, and Kantos, Alteri and Manchester Chamber Choirs. She has played with various visiting choirs for services at cathedrals across the country, including Canterbury, Gloucester and Durham, as well as York Minster. Later this summer she will be playing at the cathedrals of Ripon, Blackburn and Christ Church, Oxford. She has performed at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, plays for graduation ceremonies at the University of Manchester and RNCM, and as a soloist has twice performed at St David’s Hall, Cardiff.
